Essay: domestic or overseas univ

Many students choose to go to Universities overseas while others prefer to study in Korea. Compare, contrast, and prefer one of these.

In Korea, we have many great universities such as Seoul national university, Yonsei university, and Hanyang university. Although they are great, domestic universities are not as well known, respected, and admired as universities abroad. Both of them, however, still has advantage and disadvantage.
Domestic universities in Korea are usually not well known around the world. That is because our nation, Korea, is not as powerful as other countries like America. Thus, even though I would not be as respectful and admired as I could when I graduate foreign universities I can study my fields as deep. Also, domestic universities are obviously cheaper some universities in foreign countries like America are as ten times as expensive than Korean universities. Furthermore, Korean universities are easier to get in then foreign one because we would be foreigners to the universities that are foreign to us and because we speak different languages. For the last positive factor domestic universities would be more comfortable for me to study because it would definitely be closer to my home than studying in foreign country.
Unlike domestic universities, as mentioned above, foreign universities are much more expensive and would be difficult to get in considering that I speak different language and I would have to master the language to go and take lectures with the foreign language. To attend and follow the universities courses would be difficult, but after graduating it foreign universities would give me many more advantage. For example, I would be more admired and respected, since people will understand how hard it is to graduate from foreign university. Such advantage also affects me when I would get my job because employers would want people who got through harder education. Although going to a foreign university would have difficulties, it can be done. But, getting more respect and admiration than graduating a foreign university after graduating domestic university is nearly impossible or very difficult.
If I had a choice between going to a domestic university and going to a foreign university, I would definitely attend a foreign university. I would not care how much effort that I would require to put as long as I can graduate more respectful and admired university, which I can graduate only once in my life.

Essay: Global Korean

What aspects should you have to be a global Korean?

With the recent advances in transportation and communication, the world is becoming a smaller place. Korea is more involved with other countries than ever before and it is becoming more important for Koreans to be global citizens. So, what does it mean to be a global Korean? To be a global Korean, I should have knowledge, tolerance, and identity.
The first aspect that global Koreans should have is knowledge. Each country has different culture. With sufficient knowledge, a person can know many different cultures and customs of other countries. For example, if I want to be global I have to know cultural differences between India and Korea. While Indians eat with their hands Koreans use tools. And obtaining such knowledge is the first thing necessary to become a global Korean.
Even though a person has all the knowledge of other countries, if he cannot tolerate it he can never be a global Korean. Being global means to be part of the world, so if a person wants to be global, he or she should not only understand other countries culture, but also tolerate them. When I was young, I went overseas with my brother. We knew all the customs of New Zealand as we were staying in the same house with the Kiwis, but while I was able to adapt to the New Zealand way of life, my brother was unable to tolerate the New Zealand diet and customs. My brother's behavior in New Zealand cannot be a global Korean's behavior because even though he knew the customs he did not fallow it.
The last aspect that a global Korean should have is identity. To be Globally respected and admired, a Korean must know and like other countries, but the Korean should know about his own country first and feel devotion to it. Compared to a tree, identity is same as the root, while becoming global can be compared to branches. Without the root it is impossible to branch out, and such logic is also related to being global Korean. A global Korean must know about Korea well and be proud of it in order to adapt other countries culture and still not lose identity.
As mentioned before, world is getting smaller and smaller and Korea is related to other countries even more than before. To be admired, respected, and honored by other countries in this state, we must become global Koreans that have knowledge of other countries, tolerance to tolerate other countries, and identity
